About This Standard

Swim Ontario publishes provincial time standards each season for competitive swimmers across the province. These standards determine qualification for the Ontario Swimming Championships (OSC) and Ontario Age Group Championships (OAG), the two major provincial championship meets.

Ontario is the largest provincial swimming association in Canada, with over 150 registered clubs. The standards are set by Swim Ontario's technical committee and are designed to ensure competitive fields at championship meets while remaining achievable for developing athletes.

Competitive swimmers registered with a Swim Ontario member club. Standards apply to athletes aged 11 and up competing in sanctioned meets within Ontario or at recognized out-of-province competitions.

Standard Levels

OSC (Ontario Swimming Championships)

The top tier of provincial competition. OSC standards are faster and qualify swimmers for the Ontario Swimming Championships, typically held in the spring (LCM) and winter (SCM).

OAG (Ontario Age Groups)

The development tier of provincial competition. OAG standards are more accessible and qualify swimmers for the Ontario Age Group Championships, providing a pathway toward OSC-level competition.
