Swimming Canada publishes national time standards on a multi-year cycle aligned with the international competition calendar. These standards cover the highest levels of competitive swimming in Canada, from Canadian Open qualifying through to Senior national team selection.
The 2026-2028 standards reflect the current competitive landscape and are designed to identify athletes capable of representing Canada at international competitions including the World Championships and Olympic Games.
Who Is It For?
Elite competitive swimmers aiming for national-level competition. These standards apply to all registered swimmers in Canada regardless of province, age, or club affiliation.
Course: LCM & SCM. Season: 2026-2028.
Standard Levels
Senior
The highest national standard. Athletes who achieve Senior times are considered for the national team and international competition selection.
Trials
Qualifying times for the Canadian Olympic/World Championship Trials. Athletes must hit this standard to compete at the trials meet.
Junior
National junior-level standard for developing elite swimmers. Qualifies athletes for the Junior Pan Pacific Championships and other junior international competitions.
Canadian Open
Entry standard for the Canadian Open Championships. The most accessible national-level standard, available in both SCM and LCM.
